A fringe or a bang as it is popularly called in USA and Canada is the hair that is cut in such a way so that it curls or hangs over the forehead. They could be side swept or cut really short which go great with a pixie cut. This style has evolved over the ages where teased fringes which were poofy and curly ruled the 80s and the early 90s. The fringe came back into fashion in 2007 and continues to go great guns this year too. The only difference is that this time around the bangs are deep, thick and blunt. The first celebrity who got this cut last year was Kate Moss in October which has signaled the continuation this year. This great style has to be worn with the correct cut though or else it can be a major disaster. It has to be remembered that once hair is cut, it takes forever to grow back out. Say bye bye to curtain hair. Say hello to side swept, brow skimming and even short bangs.
Long bangs that blend into the haircut, like a bob, is chic. Try brow skimming ones with a ponytail like Hillary Duff. Maybe even shaggy bangs with long curls. Thick, blunt cut bangs with a cute inverted bob is very architectural and very, very sexy. Though short bangs may look great on Rosario Dawson, not everyone can pull it off. Go short only if the rest of your hair is short too.
Measure your face and judge the right bangs for you. Your face is oval if the length is one and a half times the width. It is round or sort of squarish if it I just as long as it is wide. It is oblong if its not as wide as it is long and it is heart shaped if it is wide at the forehead and cheekbones but narrow at the jaw.
Oval
You can have absolutely hairstyle you desire. You have the perfect face shape. Bangs can be long, short, or in between. It doesn’t matter. Avoid hiding your fabulous features with anything heavy. Slicked back hair looks great.
Oblong
A soft wispy fringe looks great. Try and balance the slender and long face that you have. Short and medium lengths of hair should be teamed with the bangs though. Avoid long hair as much as possible. It’ll only elongate the length.
Round
Avoid blunt bangs. Side swept bangs are the way to go. It makes the face look longer and slimmer. Fluff up the hair.
Square
Wispy, layered bangs around of the face soften the harshness of a square face. Avoid linear bangs and center parts. Fluffing up the crown is another great trick to soften up the face.
Heart
A bob that is chin length which has a little wisp of a bang is perfect. Don’t ever get a top heavy cut. Emphasize your cheekbones.
Now that the perfect fringe has been decided, bang away!
