The BFC, British Fashion Council have announced the names of the 17 designers who have been designated as London’s brightest emerging fashion design talents, and will receive the BFC NEWGEN sponsorship, which is supported by Topshop, meaning they can show at the London Fashion Week in September. NEWGEN, which was established in 1993, is internationally recognised as an indication of emerging new talents in fashion.
The recipients of the NEWGEN sponsorship for the spring/summer 2012, which is again sponsored by Topshop, are in several different categories. The catwalk sponsorship goes to Holly Fulton, David Koma, Michael van der Ham and David Koma. The Presentation sponshorship was awarded to Craig Lawrence, Christopher Raeburn, J.W. Anderson, Nasir Mazhar and Dominic Jones.
The Installation Sponsorship was given to SISTER by SIBLING and Jordan Askill, while the exhibition sponsorship went to J.JS Lee, Palmer/Harding, Felicity Brown, James Long, Tim Soar Woman and Thomas Tait. All the designers in the catwalk, presentation and installation categories will feature in the NEWGEN exhibition at London Fashion Week in September 2011.
The CE of the British Fashion Council, Caroline Rush, has said that NEWGEN has become the recognised abbreviation for ‘future star of the fashion industry’. She also said that this season’s winners are clearly some of the most innovative new talents that are emerging in the fashion world, and that she was proud to honour their talents and everyone was looking forward to seeing them at September’s London Fashion Week.
