Celebrity Fashion

It is not surprising that so many models, singers, actresses and other media celebrities branch out to try making another name for themselves in the field of fashion.  What is astonishing is how many of them succeed in a big way, and the impact many have had on the whole fashion industry.

Among the list of stage celebrities who have achieved remarkable success in this area is the super-model Kate Moss.  As a model she is known for her ‘waifish’ stature and gorgeous cheekbones.  As a designer she is known for unique combinations of vintage and ultra-modern, and the popularity of her designs for TopShop just continues to grow, with outlets in over 20 countries worldwide.

Lindsey Lohan, known for her roles in Hollywood productions such as Mean Girls and Herbie Fully Loaded, has fronted for the campaigns of Versace and Donna Karen, among others.  She has been deeply involved with the Visa Swap Shop in Covent Gardens, where patrons swap unwanted clothes for points on a Visa card.  She encourages U.K. shoppers to take advantage of the chance to enhance their wardrobes with something pre-owned but wonderfully new and different.

The Australian singer/actress Kylie Minogue considers the U.K. her adopted home.  After she became known for her role in the Australian television show Neighbors, she went on to become a Grammy award winning “pop diva” and gained worldwide fame with her album Fever.  Kylie now has her own beachwear line,  as well as perfumes,  a Kylie bedding range and formerly the Love Kylie line of lingerie that she has ‘given’ to the U.K.  The latest move in her long and impressive career is going to be interior design; she feels that getting involved in the whole design experience is the biggest thrill of all.

During her tenure as one of the pop group Spice Girls in the 1990’s, Victoria Beckham was nicknamed “Posh Spice” and has since become an international style symbol.  She designed a new line of jeans for Rock & Republic, and then introduced her own denim line, dVb Style.  She has also written a best-selling fashion guide.  Her line of perfumes and sunglasses is called Intimately Beckham, and she is in partnership on a range of handbags and jewelry.

Though her name may first have made the spotlight due to her father’s glory, former Beatle Paul McCartney’s daughter Stella McCartney has earned plenty of recognition in her own right.  She started designing clothes at the age of 12, and her first collection was modeled by (among others) Kate Moss, for free,  In 2000 she received the VH1/Vogue Designer of the Year award, and her stores have expanded from Mayfair to Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Paris.

Music and art have mingled throughout the career of Ronnie Wood, with almost no separation.  Best known to many as guitarist in bands that include Faces, The Birds and The Rolling Stones.  However, his first and continuing passion is the art that he produces in his drawings and paintings of other musicians, friends and family. In October 2009 he launched “I Feel Like Painting” a collection of designer wear and accessories sold though the department store Liberty
