What do you wear to a place where you worried most of your life about what to wear every single day? Yes, we are talking about a high school reunion. It could be 10 years, 25 years, or even 50 years later but you can just imagine those preppy kids judging your clothes. It doesn’t matter that they too are 70 year olds being ridiculed by today’s teens but just the thought of what those old school mates of years think can send shivers through any one’s spine.

To try and get rid of that anxiety and tension, you need to prepare a bit before that big day. You need to decide on your hairdo, clothes, shoes, and all other accessories weeks in advance so you don’t get tense those few days before the event. The best tip while deciding clothes here is to follow the trick that less is definitely more. Get something with flattering silhouettes and in classic, solid colours, that makes the dress stylish yet low key. You want the focus to be on you and what you’ve accomplished in all those years rather than the focus being on your clothes.

Little Black Dress

This is the best bet if you want to look sexy and accomplished at the same time. The length should be about knee length (just above or just below) and the sleeves and neckline depends on how comfortable you are with showing skin. Go with just a bracelet as an accessory and a sexy pair of sandals.

Evening Suit

If you are not exactly comfortable with a dress, go for a suit. A black or ivory suit in silk is sophisticated. Avoid anything too shiny and forget about sequins and beads. To dress it up a bit, wear a shell top in satin and in a bold colour.

Pantsuit

For those who aren’t exactly skirt crazy can wear pants. Wear a women’s version of a tux in either white or black. If you are feeling a little bold, don’t wear a shirt underneath. But a little camisole is always elegant inside the jacket.

Casual Reunion

There are certain reunions which run through an entire weekend instead of just an evening. It usually consists of barbeques, picnics, family events, pool parties and outdoor dinners where kids are allowed and encouraged too to run around. Be understated here too. Wear a sundress or a maillot under a sarong or maybe cropped pants or capris teemed with a cute little tee. Don’t wear anything in which you are comfortable especially if you are going to be moving around mingling and meeting everyone. Skip anything that is complicated or fussy or even with elaborate prints.

As stated earlier, keep it simple. Don’t carry a clutch or a bag. Give your partner any essentials if any to carry. You don’t want to lug anything around or worry about losing anything while hugging and kissing old friends. Groom yourself well. This is the perfect excuse to pamper yourself by getting all those treatments you’ve always wanted. As long you decide everything in advance, there should be nothing to worry. So go out there and enjoy yourself!
