Facials are a great way to improve skin tone. The world usually swears by it. Most women get monthly facials done to look great. But it can be pretty expensive going to a professional. And getting out of the house on a lazy holiday is something not everybody loves to do. So a solution to their problem would be to do a facial right at home. You do not need any fancy products. You’ll find everything right in your bathroom cabinet. It is quick and easy and believe it or not… it is actually calming and relaxing! You’ll love your skin and yourself after!
Use a hair band to push all your hair at the back. You definitely do not want you’re getting in the way. It can get grimy and greasy and maybe the other way around too if you haven’t had time to wash your hair. Start by smoothing some cleansing cream all over your face. Let it stay on for some time. Clean with a dampened cotton pad. This will not only gently remove dirt and excessive oil, but any stale make up as well.
Go onto dampen skin with some warm water. Use a blob of exfoliating cream all over face and massage. This will slough away all the dead skin and leave behind smooth looking fresh skin. This will also prepare your skin in a way for all the treatments yet to come. Wash it away with warm water.
Steaming your face is an essential part in the ‘Do It Yourself Facial’. Fill your wash basin or a large bowl with boiling water. Place a towel on your head, lean over the bowl and let the steam do its work. You should actually try and steam at least once a week. Use the steam while you are cooking pasta maybe. Remember to take the pot off the flame first though. Steam for a minimum of five minutes so that it can soften your skin. You can take out any blackheads that you have with some tissue paper now if you like. It will be the easiest now and virtually pain free. If your skin is really sensitive, you could skip the steaming process if you like or cut down on the amount of time.
Masks are very relaxing. Apply a clay mask if your skin is oily or maybe an orange peel or a moisturising mask if it is dry to normal. Leave it on for at least 5 minutes but you could also use this as an excuse to take a nap or read a good book curled up in bed. Rinse this with cool water to awaken your skin. Use an alcohol free toner over the T Zone to curb excessive oil.
Never ever skip out on the moisturising. Give your face a well deserved massage with your favourite cream. This will not only give you a glow but also reduce any puffiness that you might have. Don’t forget your eyes. They are a part of your face too. Use a gentle soothing under eye gel to lighten dark circles and also reduce wrinkles and fine lines.
