The popular online auction site eBay will launch one of its biggest advertising campaigns in its history in the United Kingdom. As more competition is popping up online, the e-commerce website is looking to increase its online market share and obtain more customers before the Christmas season.
eBay’s advertisements will appear in billboards and several popular women’s magazines in the U.K. According to the website, there has been an increase of 25% in people who are purchasing fashion items on the website throughout the past year.
The website’s Fashion Outlet is growing rapidly, and with these new advertisements, they will likely see even more shoppers going to their website to purchase fashion items. eBay wishes to become a major competitor in the online fashion market.
According to the website, consumers will be able to purchase inexpensive “high-quality street goods” from trusted brands. eBay’s Fashion Outlet has made about £4m for the company in sales thanks to a variety of brands who are using the website to sell their products.
Around 4.5 million shoppers have made a purchase of a fashion item on the website since May 2010, and in September, advertisements will be displayed for the Fashion Outlet in a variety of train stations, billboards, and buses all around Britain.
Many retailers like Superdry, Karen Millen, Office, and Ted Banker are currently selling their products with eBay’s Fashion Outlet. eBay says that there are many more high street retailers who will be selling on the website soon. With large advertisements in some popular women’s magazines, such as OK!, Vogue, Grazia, and Look and Elle, many more retailers and customers may be attracted to the online service.
