Pear shaped women usually have a small top and a large bottom. Shoulders are narrow and the chest is small. The hips are full and wide. This is one body that many women would die for. Unfortunately not many want the extra weight that comes with it. It is possible to look drop dead gorgeous and extremely feminine by enhancing that cute little tush.
A line skirts in fabrics that are structured skim wide hips perfectly. Even if your backside is large, but if it is toned, you can wear pencil skirts. Try a length that goes a little below the knee. Long skirts are more flattering than short ones. Structured pieces that are tailored to perfection is what you need. Do not wear a flimsy fabric or even loose and floaty ones. It will only add bulk and might just stick to the hips when you least expected it. The bias cut should be avoided at all costs since this will cling at places you are actually trying to hide.
Jeans and trousers should fall just right. Do not wear a tapered boot leg and neither should you go for skinny jeans. Wear a straight cut. Harem pants and other trousers that turn inside towards the ankles will do nothing to help you maintain that balance. You need to wear clothes that are not fitted. At least not the bottom halves! Another style that is a big no-no is pants that are cropped. This will make legs look shorter and in turn make hips look wider.
Clingy bottoms should be stayed clear of. Do not wear tracksuit pants. This will stretch perfectly around your waist that will cause it to stretch even further around your hips. This too will make your hips look bigger than they are. So opt for low waist pants. They should below your waistline and not exactly on them.
The great thing about your shape is that you have more options when it comes to shirts. You can show off your fabulous top half with the cutest little shells. Wear boat neck tops or even slash necks. These will create the illusion of a wider shoulder line and that will balance your bottom half. Make your top elaborate. Wearing something with fine detailing, beads, or even embroidery will attract attention there and the bottom will tend to be ignored. So you need to draw all eyes to your top rather than your bottom. Bright tops too are attention seekers. Maybe even a really funky neckpiece that makes a real statement. Strapless tops are perfect for the small chested who have toned arms.
You need to avoid highlighting your waist so ignore jackets that end there. Long jackets hide wide hips perfectly. If you enhance your chest with a padded bra, it might just make your hips look smaller in contrast. You might think it a silly thing but it actually works. Chunky heels instead of stilettos look great on the wide hipped gal. So do empire dress.
It really doesn’t matter what you wear as long as you wear it with confidence. If you have confidence, even your flaws can actually look like assets!
