If you have seen an Anthony Vaccarello slinky dress, then no doubt you have wondered if you would see something else as well, because the favourite designer among A-list stars is known for his beyond the thigh slit dresses that seem to reach so high that one slip could result in the world seeing everything belonging to a young actress or model.

However, the 32 year old designer revealed that the secret behind making the unbelievable slit work on so many is the fact that the dresses have an inbuilt bodysuit hidden inside of them to make sure everything stays covered properly.

Bodysuit or not, the effect is amazing because the ‘jumpsuit dress’ actually makes it seem that the wearer is willing to show just about everything off and is one of the sexiest designs on the red carpet this year.

According to Vaccarello, the dress is more like a pair of pants, only the leg is carefully set outside through a hole making it impossible for someone to actually show off any regions that they may prefer to keep hidden from gawking fans and hundreds of lurking paparazzi members. He did add that everyone asks him how the slit stays in place.

Vaccarello also noted that he high slit dresses only work on women that have waif like figures that are similar to models because it otherwise it is not as figure flattering. Famous fans of his design include Karlie Kloss, Daria Werbowy, and Anne Wyalitsyna.

The designer added that he has been honored to have them ask him to create a dress for them because they have the perfect bodies to wear this style and if they could not wear it correctly then it is hard to guess who else might have the guts to pull it off.

This year is the 50th anniversary of the Bath Fashion Museum’s Dress of the Year and this year the very special honour goes to a House of Dior dress. The lucky winning outfit is an embroidered silk cut-off gown that was paired with a pair of slim trousers by the House of Dior at a catwalk show in Paris. Although technically not a dress, the top is a cut-off dress that is simply brilliant in full length or short length.

The dress was chosen to be a part of the collection by Vanessa Friedman the Financial Times fashion editor. The ensemble was created by Raf Simons the head designer of Dior who took over at the fashion house in 2012. He commented that it is a grand honor to have been chosen by the Bath Fashion Museum Council as their dress of the year.

He went on to complain that the collection in the museum is very distinct and not just the fashion, but also the fact that it has a large historical value and he is very proud that his clothes are some of the looks that are featured.

Friedman stated that her choice represented a move away from the extreme, escapist garments that have marked the close of the century and is a nod to the future of the 21st century following the recession. She remarked that the Dior gown is the perfect choice because it blends fantasy with functionality and shows the values of couture now: to simplify the lives of women.

Rosemary Harden, the museum manager, stated that they are very delighted to give Raf Simon’s Dior creation the designation as the Dress of the Year 2012 because it shows the intricacies of ultra-modern design paired with haute couture and luxury craftsmanship.

By showing a collection based on a phoenix theme by a designer who belongs to Japan and who has also dressed the famous singer, Lady Gaga to represent touches of rich traditional ways of Mongolian decorations, showing it by the designers at the Japan Fashion Week clearly states that they have set their eyes firmly on the huge market of Asia.

Chinese consumers are the world leaders in purchasing luxury goods, and they account for almost a quarter of the luxury market globally along with growing demand, as per a recent report conducted by a consulting firm Bain & Co.

Although, the great extravaganza of fashion started at the weekend showcasing some great collections for autumn and winter of 2013/14, but the Japanese brand made it presence on the stage only on Monday with famous Masanori Morikawa with a self directed label of his own,” Christian Dada”.

Morikawa has also created many pieces for famous US Pop star Lady Gaga, which includes a pink dress that is reminiscent of origami crane that was for her 2012 album “ Born this way” and its tour.

This time the designer took inspiration from Asia and came up with an androgynous and edgy collection that was titles as “Fenghuang”, which in Chinese means the famous Phoenix bird, it was paired long with loose pants along with richly embroidering done on the lace on sleeves of shirt for both men as well as women.

Leather jackets and pants mingled well with trousers of down- panelled and plain shirts, also colours of white, black, blue, red and gold, that as per Morikawa represented the actual nature of this mystical bird. There is another believe that phoenix contains both male and female within itself, so we decided to take this fusion concept for our collection,” as Morikawa told the reporters.

Another Asian influence was seen on the floor, when on Sunday the famous designer from Mongolia, Arjunna Surenjav, blended modern designs beautifully with traditional forms on the bunched sleeves and shoulders.

“ Part of this clothing design from where the material moves up on the shoulder, basically comes from old tradition followed in old Mongolia, there local people who were generally noble and well respected, wore that kind of design,” says Surenjav.

The well known fashion icon Jean Paul Gaultier often receives a lot of attention in the press when he launches a new fashion line, so now that he is launching his own fashion exhibit at the Barbican in April of next year, where he will be displaying over 140 of his clothing lines and designs which includes the conical corset that Madonna wore during her on-stage performance, the show is certain to be filled when it goes through its London debut.

One of the things that Gaultier told the press is that the English were among the first in the world to appreciate the type of fashion that he does, so he is really excited to bring this show to London. He feels that this place is better set than any other place in the world, except perhaps Paris, which is where he lives in.

The clothing lines that will be shown will be more than just the famed corset that Madonna wore at the 1990 Blonde Ambition tour. There are three other stage costumes that were created exclusively for the likes of Kylie Minogue, Dita Von Teese and the Hung Up singer will be shown to the public. The exhibit will also showcase Gaultier’s illustrious career, along with many more ready-to-wear garments.

The fashion week in Milan would not be the same minus the high-voltage, unabashed, super-star glitz and during this season there was no one stopping Donatella. For her brand new collection of women’s, her latest look was unleashed, and she has called it “vunk.” Being translated into a punk high fashion twist, models were seen striding onto a white gleaming catwalk wearing shiny vinyl lashing of red, black, white, purple and bright yellow.

Rubbery fronts came with tartan kilts. A fetish body-hugging black dress was completed with black knee-high boots, which included spiked nails cascading down the front of them. T-shirts with studs, that were emblazoned with wild all across their fronts, were screaming the Sex Pistols era as loud as they could.

A black and yellow fur coat was paired with some black skintight vinyl trousers, and a pair of thigh high boots with studs. The shows animal prints, were developed by artists from America the Hass Brothers, that made them specifically for the fashion house of Italy.

For the evening look of vunk, it revolves around draped red or black dresses including peep holes, daring slits in the front, and some have PVC sleeves. Accessories include chokers and rings with dripping metal spikes, and nails were finished with a punched look, while the sandals include fur fronts.

There isn’t much that is new or really subtle about this look, but then again being subtle has never been a reason for people to visit Versace. Although, the show did have a lot of energy, and all of the pieces tailored, just like the rich wool red coat with the shiny metal buttons, showcased the cutting skills.

Previewing, Donatella was seen wearing vinyl boot-cut jeans, and a biker jacket with studs, and she explained that being a fashion designer she only wants to look forward.

Ladies, take a tip from Mrs. Robinson from The Graduate and don’t put away your leopard print pieces just yet. It doesn’t matter what you own, may it be a jacket, a purse, a coat, a pair or shoes, or a sweater, but if the latest catwalk shows are of any indication, this once trendy print is fast turning into a classic and is here to stay.

In the latest autumn 2013 shows, big names such as Tracy Reese, DKNY, Thakoon and Diane Von Furstenberg continued to showcase the ubiquitous leopard print, and presented viewers with their own spin on how to wear it. If these many fashion houses are hailing leopard as king, then it is certainly a fashion trend worth putting your money on.

When it comes to leopard print, it seems like the fashion houses are not picky at all. While DKNY showcased an oversized sweater with giant leopard print, another article of clothing that captured equal attention was a red skirt dotted with tiny leopard print.

There was also a variety of clothing items that showcased the sports. Thakoon presented his audiences with what is most probably the most classic leopard print piece- the fur coat. While Thakoon focused on outerwear, DVF or Diane Von Furstenberg decided to focus on leopard innerwear with her slinky, long jumpsuits.

DVF’s fashion offerings also encouraged audiences to wear leopard prints of different sizes and shapes all at once. It really is safe to conclude that one can never get too much of leopard.

While leopard print was once the star of any outfit, many designers decided to treat it as somewhat of a neutral this year. It was a normal sight to see leopard print paired with other equally loud colours and prints. Truly, leopard is here to stay so the best idea may be to just go out and secure a couple more pieces and you will be good to go.
