Harrods and Tissot have taken window shopping to an entirely new level by teaming up to create the first interactive window for trying on the high end Swiss watches without ever entering the famous department store or touching an actual watch.
The window display is located at the Brompton Road side of Harrods and allows shoppers to pause as they pass the shop to try out the curious looking device on the store window. The premise of the device is similar to the Wii or the Xbox Connect as it invites potential customers to put a lightweight plastic highly technical wrist strap onto their arm.
After the wrist band is on all that is left to do is hold the strap up to the mirror and what you will see looking back at you is a reflection of yourself, only in place of the black strap is a Tissot watch of your choice from the T-Touch or Ladies collection. The gadget is so advanced that when you move your arm around the screen the watch moves with it giving you the feeling that you are actually wearing the watch that is in the screen.
The interactive screen also takes ‘trying on’ the watch a step into virtual reality, given that you can touch the window to try out all of the gadgets on the watches the same way that you would if you were actually holding the watch in your hands. On display until April 24th, even if a Tissot watch is not in your budget this is one display that you will want to see.
We would love to hear your thoughts.
