Miranda Kerr turned airline fashion into Milan runway fashion when she modeled the new uniform in Sydney for Qantas Airways. Although you might not think high fashion when you think of stewardesses, Kerr sure made it look good.

The Victoria Secret model looked absolutely brilliant in the new airline uniform sporting a lack trench coat with a multi-colored dress underneath and a perfectly matched fedora.

Kerr was also apparently glad to be back home for a bit, Tweeting a photo of herself in the uniform along with the hashtag ‘#still call Australia Home.’

In a press release that Kerr did before the unleashing of the new uniform she stated that she was very excited to be a part of the Qantas campaign because she travels often and she is well aware of how vital it is to have a space that you can stay in to just unwind or relax while traveling. She added that it is also important to make sure that there is some way to stay connected with the world until the flight takes off.

Organics creator for KORA stated that Qantas Club is able to offer all of what Kerr discussed and plenty of great conveniences. The smile on Kerr’s face as she introduced each element of the wardrobe spoke for itself, and it seems as if the airline attendants are going to be looking good over in the land down under.

The dress is made of lightweight cotton and two-toned with a vertical slash across the top cutting own from the right shoulder to the hipline. The top triangle is a brilliant red with a pink slice across the left shoulder while the bottom of the dress is solid black. The trench coat to be worn with the dress is also a solid black.

Stunning models posing with underwater giants, the vision is set to take your breath away. In a fascinating marriage of the world of fashion and ocean, daring models chose to dive with 30 foot long sharks. Hannah Fraser, aged 36, and Roberta Mancino, aged 32 completed this spectacular feat by diving up to 25 feet deep in the ocean, clad in spectacular designer clothes, accompanied by the 18 tonne heavyweight whale sharks.

Two photographers form the US, 41 years old Shawn Heinrichs, and 35 years old Kristian Schmidt, 35 planned for 4 months before affecting this wonderful 5 day photo shoot. Models matched the graceful moves of the sharks while gliding through the  tropical waters of the Philippines’ tropical.

Talking about how the two models joined the two photographers in the creative masterstroke aimed at pleasing the audiences with some electrifying photographs and making them more aware of the plight of shark whales, Heinrichs said that the models were extremely supportive of the idea and eager to get things going.

“Hannah does underwater shoots regularly, and Roberta is a highly skilled base jumper. The confidence that is required to pull such a thing off was already there in these two models owing to their professional backgrounds. You could call this a bizarre beginning to London’s fashion week,” Heinrichs stated.

The photographer also mentioned that the team managed its way through the event, escaping thunderstorms, tumultuous sea waters and heavy winds. “Fortunately, we pulled it off despite the dangers. Whale sharks are absolutely harmless. Also, fishermen and village people were particularly welcoming towards us when we visited their village,” he added.

Achilleas and Aristos Constantiou 300x238 Founder of London Fashion Week gives his opinion of a womans ideal size

Founder of London Fashion Week gives his opinion of a woman’s ideal size

Achilleas Constantinou, the founder of both Ariella Couture and London Fashion Week has made a few controversial statements about the ideal size for a woman.

He says that women should be slim for their partners, but size zero is a no-no. He added that all women, particularly those who were big fans of fashion, should strive to be a healthy and acceptable weight for their men.

Mr Constantinou has been a long term campaigner for serious measure to be taken to counter what he describes as the endemic eating disorders that are spreading like a cancer throughout the fashion industry. He also applauds Israel as the first country to outlaw skinny models in advertisements and on the catwalk. Other countries have taken steps to prevent size zero models becoming successful, and he believes the UK should do the same.

“According to a recent YouGov survey, 80% of Brits say ban under 16, size zero models; and 79% say average size models would sell more clothes. There is strong consensus among the British public that fashion designers should not be allowed to use models under the age of 16 in catwalk shows, nor should they be allowed to use size ‘zero’ models, the poll found.

“In 2007 before I resigned from the British Fashion Council, we commissioned the Model Health Inquiry headed by Baroness Denise Kingsmill. It recommended inter-alia a permanent model health panel, which the BFC has set up and this checks models conditions backstage, ensuring they have a sanctuary relaxation zone and healthy food and drink. It also ensures that girls under 16 are not allowed to model and liaises regularly with designers and model agencies to ensure models have access to nutritional information with the focus being on health not on size.

This was a tremendous step forward but skinny models still appearing on catwalks around the world has shown that the problem has not yet been eliminated.

Almost eight out of ten people also feel that designers would actually help, rather than damage, their business if they were to use more averaged-sized women in catwalk shows”.

“Based on that data, steps should be taken to formalise the Fashion industries take on on underage and Size Zero models”.

“What has been happening on the catwalk for a number of years is highly irresponsible…Yes the camera puts on a size usually to the viewer, but so what!”

“Diseases such as anorexia have had a devastating effect on today’s youth and there can be no denying that the fashion world and the ‘role models’, they promote are partly to blame”.

“The problem of eating disorders and the pressure on models to be thin is extremely important”.

“For me, there was an additional personal aspect to any discussions”.

“Anorexia is an issue about which I have exceptionally strong opinions. My much-loved niece has battled the disease since the age of 15 and she is now 42!”.

“I have witnessed the pain it causes, the endless trips to and from the clinics, the desperate fight she has put up with and the fact that anorexia will remain with her for the rest of her life”.

“Her love of fashion was one of the reasons she developed the disease”.

“This is a trend happening to girls as young as 13 years of age”.

“We need to approach the matter in a way that will effect lasting change. I believe it should be seriously considered whether a model size eight – a more accurate visual guide than the Body Mass Index (BMI) – should be set as an industry standard.

Other strategies are being debated, but our Fashion Industry from Designers to model agencies must take responsibility for their actions and rectify this unacceptable influence on our youth, and I hope the forthcoming British Fashion Week will be utilised to show the rest of the Fashion world how we in Britain are leading the world, not only with our fabulous and creative fashion but also with our moral approach to it.”

article 2111379 120C2764000005DC 836 634x431 300x203 Ban revoked on Agent Provocateur adA complaint last November was made against an advert by Agent Provocateur which described the advert as disturbing. Despite the initial complaint, and the advert being taken off the air, the Advertising Standards Authority have recently ruled that the advert is not offensive and can go ahead.

The advert depicts a combination of sex and horror and shows a brunette being attacked by four beautiful women who are wearing lingerie from the company. One of the reasons why the advert was allowed, according to the ASA, is because it was clearly fictional and is heavily stylised.

The ASA commented, “It is possible that some viewers might find this advert distasteful but it is clearly fictional. The advert is very unlikely to be interpreted by most viewers as disturbing and we find that the original complaint was unfounded. We do not agree that the advert demeans women in any way and we don’t think it is going to cause offence to the vast majority of people.”

In the advert, the woman is chased through her home by the lingerie wearing intruders and once she is eventually captured, she seems to be converted into one of them. The advert has been given the go-ahead as it does not breach advertising rules in the UK.
