Almost 50 years since she graced the silver screen, Marilyn Monroe remains a familiar icon of femininity and sensuality. Since her untimely death in 1962, the many portrayals of her both on and off screen are testament to the influence she has had, and her unique style. Most recently she has been brought back to life by Michelle Williams, in the just-released film My Week with Marilyn. The film takes place during her filming of The Prince and the Showgirl with Laurence Olivier, and is based on the real-life diary account of young Colin Clark, an assistant on the film who embarks on a fleeting romance with the blonde bombshell. Of course, one of the most iconic images of her is the photograph of her in a billowy flowing white dress being blown up around her by an updraft from Read More ...

The glasses you wear should reflect your personality, your appearance, and your sense of fashion. After all, your frames sit in the middle of your face where the whole world can see them! Thankfully, eyeglasses are fashionable; they are no longer “nerdy.” That classic retro look is back, as if it never even left. One popular trend at the moment is the retro frame, especially for men. Technically however, it is not strictly correct to categorize them as “retro” since they have never really gone out of style. Classic square, rectangular, or circular eyeglasses can be worn by both genders and all age groups. For a fashionably quirky look, consider the perfectly round frames made famous by John Lennon. If you are looking for a more classy or sophisticated look, opt for delicate square or rectangular frames. While black is Read More ...

It was in Corby city centre that the latest fashion trends were being shown recently. A catwalk had been set up in the centre of the town to give some inspiration to shoppers about what to buy to be in fashion this season. The show involved models displaying clothes that were easily available to local residents. It was not just models at the event, there were singers and dancers too. Sky 1 had the Trinity Warriors from their Got to Dance programme. There were also the band Out of the Shadows who have links with the TV show Britain’s Got Talent. The catwalk was to show off clothes that were available at local shops that are affordable by the everyday consumer. The clothes included collections from TK Maxx, Burtons, River Island and Primark. One of the visitors to the event Read More ...

Wider brims compose most of the In list in casual hats this summer. Not only are they great for shading your face and neck from the youth-stealing UV-B rays that age us, they also coordinate well with almost every casual look you want and work well with different materials and clothing styles. However, some terrific narrow and mid-width brims are peeking over heads this season as well. The perennial wide, floppy brimmed sun hat by Gabriella, whether straw or cloth, can be worn snugly positioned on top of your head or set back for a more innocent look. Unless you purchase a hat specifically made for a particular piece of clothing, don’t mix stripe with stripe. Keep one or the other in a solid design. Which one depends entirely on you and your style. In a slight variation of the Read More ...
