For most of the centuries the distinctiveness of Geisha has been the conspiracy to the western society. To be a geisha is said to be an art even though one of the main misunderstanding among the peoples is that Geisha is a prostitute. However this statement is completely and absolutely wrong because Geisha girls do not sell their souls or body. Geisha is a classical art of Japan or in other words it is a makeup that is been implemented by most of the Japanese girls. Traditionally, Geisha makeup is one kind of a white paste that is applied on the face, hands and the neck. Even tiny pout lips are being painted over the lips and the eyes are beautifully trimmed in red color.

At present, the conventional geisha makeup of the Tiro Geisha is said to be one of most familiar characteristics of Japanese people. Most of the established geisha girls generally wear entire while face makeup feature of maiko just during some of the special performances. The conventional Geisha makeup of Tiro Geisha usually contains a thick white base which is originally prepared with rice powder or lead. This makeup also contains red and black color accents around the eyebrows and eyes and a red lipstick. The main purpose of geisha makeup is actually hard to master and usually is a process that consumes lot of time.

In order to avoid some dirt, the kimono makeup is being applied before any dressing. Initial step is to use oil or a wax substance known as bintsuke-abura which is usually applied on the skin. Next is to use a paste of white powder mixed in the water and apply it on the skin with a bamboo brush. This white powder paste covers the entire face, chest and neck with almost 3 unwhitened areas that form V shape or W shape left on the nape in order to emphasize the erotic area and in the line of the bare skin that creates false impression of a mask.

The Art of Geisha Makeup

The art of this kind of makeup is quite fascinating and has certainly generated many different deviations of copying the process of makeup in the present culture of western fashion. It appears to be that every person wants to jump in on the same wagon wheel after the life history of Geisha makeup has become one of the top most selling novels of that time. Without doubt, any person cannot forget the most renowned Madonna performing in a Geisha makeup with an artificial kimono makeup in Japan.

During that time most of the makeup companies started making similar kind of makeup. One of the Australian makeup companies introduced a new makeup in the market with the name Poppy. For all those girls who want to look modern geisha the present geisha makeup is contains eye kohl, white face powder and a lip pencil. Even though the modern version of geisha fashion and the geisha makeup looks fresh it is actually just a replication of ancient art and lacks the very personification of iki which geisha is known for.
