The winners of the Graduate Fashion Week were announced at the Earl’s Court gala show this week, as students from all over the country came together to show their collections off at the event. The final day of the week was the night of the awards gala and the award of the much anticipated River Island Gold Award.
Winner of the coveted award was Manchester University School of Art student Rebecca Thompson who impressed the judges with her muted collection of ruffles and bows paired with chic shirt dresses and tailored trousers.
Thompson was chosen by the panel of judges which included GQ Editor Dylan Jones, ELLE editor in chief Lorraine Candy, and Alberta Ferretti. Her award also came with a casual £20 for her efforts.
Other winners of the night included Northbrook College Swindon student Rhea Fields who took home the Womenswear prize, Colchester School of Art student Kitty Keay who took home the Mulberry Accessories prize, and De Montfort University student Anna Lee who took home the Zandra Rhodes Textiles Award.
Presenters at the occasion included the dance troupe Diversity, Erin O’Conner, Nicola Roberts, and Barbara Hulanicki making the gala just a bit more special to the participants.
