healthy make up Healthy Make up!

Yes! Healthy make up. Make up that doesn’t leave your skin worse than before, Make up that doesn’t give you allergies and yes, make up that doesn’t contain ingredients that are responsible for the dreaded big C.

Everyday one reads about all the dreaded ingredients that go into making that lip stick we love so much, or into the foundation that we lather on so generously. What we forget is that the skin is the largest organ of our body which soaks in every bit of good or bad. And let us not forget our scalp which is also a major part of it. Using products with harsh chemicals not only leaves the skin looking rough but also has harmful effects.

When ever you use a product with a fragrance does it leave your skin all red and blotchy? The smart thing would to use wit products with minimal ingredients especially dyes and fragrances.

Look for natural ingredients to at least ward off future damage. The major hindrance is that these are terribly expensive. I suppose health comes with a big price tag. So, here we are, caught in a catch-22 situation, price vs. health. That is why when we read all the natural ingredients on the label like wheat germ, we are so tempted to not buy and go home and use things off our kitchen shelf. But this doesn’t really work for long as it requires a tiresome process. A final tip and which is the best one… anything that you can put in your mouth should not go on your skin! So try and find the products with all the goodness of nature that best suit your skin.

How about lime juice to lighten skin instead of those dreadful harsh bleaches? Or cream directly removed from heated milk instead of the store bought versions that we lather onto our skin so generously? The list is endless! Or maybe even oatmeal instead of those harsh scrubs! Feel free to apply whatever you can lay your hands on in the kitchen to apply it onto your face!

One reads a lot about the harmful after effects of hair dyes. So should we stop using them? Nah! There is henna which we keep on hearing about. But how easily accessible is it not to mention the cumbersome process of its application and care. The good news is that most companies have come up with hair colours that are made up of as many natural ingredients as possible so that the damage to the scalp is minimal. Of course there are companies that promise you hundred percent natures goodness. But learn to take that with a pinch of salt.

The ideal would be to minimize our use of makeup. Not to give it up altogether. Try and use as many natural products we can from our kitchen but leave the rest to the experts. So go out and pamper your skin with the best make up you can find. And if you buy less you can afford the more expensive stuff that you have always wanted but could not purchase.
