Your hair maybe short but you don’t have to settle in with that one simple style. You can jazz it up. There are different styles from everyday looks to dressier versions of the same.
Creating contrast gives a dramatic look. Try sleek bangs with tousled hair. Create asymmetrical partings to get a totally different look in a matter of moments. For a real transformation that is even better and easier to manage, go really short. A pixy cut is easy to style with just a little wax. It is one if the best looks today. Alter your bangs. Go the Cleopatra way. Add lots of shine. A trick to achieve the look- use the hair dryer from the roots to the tips. Add a product like Phyto’s Defrissant Serum that makes the hair ooze shimmer.
Tease your hair to create loads of volume. Rake fingers through the hair and scrunch it up with hair gel. When the hair is dry, try using a curling iron. Get really tight corkscrew curls by setting hair on pipe cleaners. You can also accentuate your natural curls by simply attaching the diffuser to your dryer and blow through. Twist hair around your fingers to get a romantic finish.
To make your short hair really stand out, do the zigzag parting and contrast it with streaks of different colours. The partings should be messy to get a really choppy mien. Try braiding teeny tiny pieces of hair at the front and at the nape of the neck. As you braid it, twist it a bit to make it funky. Leave a little tail and spike it with hair paste. Then place the braids randomly. Try exaggerating the look by completely puling it back from your face. Alternatively you could back comb the hair to give it height. If you don’t want a really harsh look, pull a few strands of hair onto your face. You could also rough it up using a hair dryer. The ‘just got out of bed’ look is very sexy. Random crimping and extreme backcombing also helps achieve this look.
A false updo is the easiest way to update short hair. Separate the hair into 2 inch sections and then loosely twist them and then pin each section going to the back. Voila, a casual imitation updo is achieved. Use a hairspray to create a firm hold. Another way to achieve height at the top of the head is to twist hair at the roots and then put pins in the upright position. ‘Karina Twist n Clip’ headband is another way to imitate the upright twists. A little wax to be applied on the ends is needed to add some texture to the hair.
For really dramatic hair, add mud, and create a Mohawk. Another thing that could be done is to dye the tips other hair either a darker or lighter shade than the rest of the hair. Christina Aguilera and Kelly Osbourne have followed this ‘Double Dip’. Add a little star dust to get glitter infused hair.
Bend and stretch or pony up… it doesn’t matter. The options are endless with short hair. All it requires is a little imagination.
