For fashion maidens the moment of the year has possibly arrived, the sale of Jimmy Choo shoes at H&M at prices mere mortals can afford.
However, the High Street prices more than doubled as shoppers with a plan purchased the highly sought after stilettos, and then resold them on eBay once they became sold out in the stores.
In fact, those after a bargain stood in a queue outside of H&M for the designer’s new lower priced range of shoes for over 14 hours in an attempt to get the bargain prices of around £50.
The result was the shoes almost immediately sold out on Saturday after being placed on the shelves. However, in less than a day the same shoes were up on eBay where bidders were willing to pay twice as much to get their hands on a pair of the Jimmy Choos, which just sounds like perfect Cockney rhyming slang.
On eBay a pair of “Cage” shoes were sold for about £160, up from the original ticket price at H&M of £80, there were 16 bidders in the fight for the shoes. Additionally a pair of boots sold for £200 on the auction site that were originally priced at £100 and a few other shoes were sold with similar price hikes.
This is not the first time that shoppers have clamoured into H&M for a great deal on a designer shoe, as they were also intrigued by the launch of a discount Stella McCartney line earlier in the year.
Normally Jimmy Choos cost anywhere from £200 up to £800.
