make up for the red carpet Makeup for the Red Carpet

A big night is on the cards. You have the perfect dress and the perfect man for that big night but the crucial point- the make up is still not decided on. Do you go glam or glitzy? You simply have to ensure that you are the belle of the ball. This great look begins with fabulous makeup. You have to shine and shimmer. There are certain times when classic glam will do but there are certain times when you simply have to shine through. That is when you go glitzy all the way.

Commence with the Common

Foundation is the base of the makeup. It is important to choose the right one and it has to be applied flawlessly. There is a wide variety from creams to liquids to sticks. This will ensure that the rest of the makeup goes on smoothly. The face needs to be freshly washed and moisturized to achieve a level palette.
Glitzy: Start with a little complexion enhancer. This will give the face a subtle glow.
Glam: Use a moisturizing foundation since the skin should be dewy.

Eye Drama

Eyes should always be the main focus of any look. You should have a lot of time to spare to get it right. For a special night, a single shade of colour is not enough. A wide range of shades should be used to go with that smokin’ smoky eye.
Glitzy: Use metallic, shimmery, sparkly eye shadow and liner. If the shadow is metallic, then the mascara and eyeliner should be of a solid colour like black or brown but if you want to use metallic mascara or liner, the shadow should be subtle and matte.
Glam: Jewel tones for the true diva. Use deep shades of blues, plums and greens to get the smoky eye. Complete the look with a thick line of black liquid liner and lots of mascara. Maybe even some false eyelashes if you are daring enough.

Lips

Lips need to be pale if the eyes are strong or else there will be a heavy competition between the two. If you want to use a bright lipstick, tone down the other makeup like the eyes but if you want your eyes to be the focus of all eyes then a sheer gloss or a very neutral lipstick works best.
Glitzy: To match that metallic shadow, team it with scarlet lips. Deep lips and shiny eyes look ery-very scarily sexy. But if it’s the eyes that you want to get all the attention, go for a sparkly gloss instead that is sheer and nude.
Glam: Red… the perfect colour that spells class. Mauve and pink are very elegant so don’t overlook them altogether. If you want to emphasise those eyes and play the jeweled look up a little, add just a touch of gloss in the centre of the bottom lip. This gives the effect of a sexy pout. This is a great lip enhancing trick for thin lips.

It doesn’t matter which effect you try to create, you’ll shine through no matter what.
