With the opening of their flagship store in London’s Westbourne Grove this February, U.S. clothing label Max Studio brings their signature style across the pond. A California-based company founded by Leon Max in 1979, Max Studio has long been designing smart, feminine designs for the modern shopper. The new U.K. store will carry the more casual MaxStudio.com line, as well as the limited edition Leon Max Collection.
One peek at Max Studio’s Spring 2012 collection, and it’s clear that sheer fabric is our friend. Whether it be an over-the-shoulder, crinkled silk chiffon maxi dress in russet orange, or an iridescent chiffon side-drape dress in aqua tones, get ready to channel your inner Greek goddess. Sheer layers flow delicately down these romantic designs, some featuring an open back. The sweaters and tops, too, embrace the female form with soft jersey material that drapes naturally.
For a sharp, no-nonsense cut, Max Studio offers a wide range of sleek, fitted blazers in delavé linen and stretch piqué, as well as several fitted black cocktail dresses – with lace or bands for a uniquely stylish edge. In pants, you’ll find white wide-legged trousers as well as cropped ones, which pair naturally with an asymmetrical top or jersey tunic. You can easily go from sophisticated casual to cutting-edge fashionista, or walk a fine line between the two, with this Spring 2012 collection. And with designs as universally appealing as Max Studio’s, one can only wonder where the next store will pop up.
