The first thing that is noticed focuser after that lovely smile will be the cheeks. Doesn’t the nursery rhyme Rosy Lips, tell us so. Understanding what would look best with our complexion would definitely help to create the best effect. But sometimes we only keep the latest trends in mind. What is good for the goose ay not be good for the gander, especially the models on whom a certain colour my look good may just end up being all wrong for you. So shop wisely, as the malls are flooded with the latest products. You have much to choose from when it comes to cheek colour- creams, powder blushers, and liquids. Use them to add warmth to your face and also liven your features. Powders are the best bet for an oily skin while creams work well with dry skin.

Cream Blush

Cream blush gives a natural, healthy glow, especially on dry skin. For best results, apply and then blend well with your fingers.

Pros: Looks more natural than powder blush.

Cons: it will need more frequent application.

Powder blush

Powder blush is best applied with a brush. A good quality blusher brush is a good sound investment.

Pros: Is longer lasting than any other blush.

Cons: It needs to be blended extremely well at the edges.

The Pinch Test

If you are in the mood for invisible make up during the day, try the pinch test. Pinch the pillow of your cheek and if you like the effect, get a blush in the same shade as the natural blush that comes up on your cheeks. For a natural and healthy glow, smile and apply the blush to the apple of your cheeks. Blend this towards the hairline.

Cheek Bones

If you are blessed with great cheek bones, apply the colour directly on the bone and a little above it. You will need a very little colour to get a healthy glow. If you don’t have prominent cheek bones but want them, it is easy to fake them. Imagine a horizontal line directly under your nose and a curve from the ear and try to make them meet. Apply blusher from the point where the lines cross to the tip of the ear. As a rule, never apply blusher towards the center of your face. Try to apply from mid cheek towards the hairline.

Face Shapes

What shape is your face? Most faces fit into one of these three categories, round, rectangular and triangular. There is a special technique for applying blusher to each. To make a round face appear less round, apply blush high on the cheek, directly beneath the eye. To soften and width to a rectangular face, apply blush high on the cheek, almost on a horizontal line with your eyes. Concentrate the colour on the outside edges of your face. To add width to a triangular face as well as to balance the width at the forehead, apply blush under the cheek bone but close to the eyes.
