Osman Yousefzada the LFW designer is the star of the new Victoria & Albert museum in London series, entitled Fashion in Motion.
The designs of Yousefzada are based on his instinct and show sensibility and poetics that were inspired by both the future and history. He is known best for his dramatic draping and as thus his set of contemporary set of dancers will be on the floor in order to emphasis the way his designs can inspire the human form.
Yousefzada is the son of Afghan and UK parents and found his inspiration at a young age sitting in his mothers Birmingham dressmaking business. As an adult he completed his studies at Central Saint Martins and started his own label in the summer of 2006 with his first collection premiering under the ‘Osman’ label.
In 2007 he was nominated for the annual Designs of the year award at the London Design Museum, an event that features the best 100 designs globally from all different disciplines that include transport, architecture, graphics, and furniture.
Additionally, in 2008 he received praise for his work with Mango titled the ‘Osman Yousefzada’s Little Black Dress Collection’ that sold in 35 countries in over 200 stores.
In addition, he saw his work on display at the Didier Ludot Palais Royal boutique right alongside works by Thierry Mugler and Claude Montana. He also worked in 2009 on a jewellery collection along with Astley Clarke that was inspired by futurism and Art Deco.
