The owner of Aquascutum in Asia, Hong-Kong based YGM Trading is in the middle of discussions with the British high-end fashion retailer. YGM Trading bought the rights of the brand in Asia, back in 2009, and is now interested in acquiring the global rights since the company has entered administration. Aquascutum moving into administration threatens to wipe out the existence of a British brand and also puts approximately two hundred and fifty jobs at risk. YGM Trading’s interest in the move is said to be because it will allow YGM to further expand their ownership as they’ll own worldwide rights to the brand and not just be restricted to Asian ownership. YGM chairman is uncertain whether the acquisition will go ahead, stating “discussions may not even proceed from here, potential investors and shareholders have been advised to exercise extreme caution Read More ...

Article Courtesy of Links of London Links of London happens to be a company that supplies jewellery both for men and women. The firm was set up by John Ayton and his wife Anouhka Ducas in the year 1990. The account of how the firm came into existence is quite interesting. It all started when a restaurant owner requested for handmade fish cufflinks. The requester wanted to give the cufflinks to her loyal customers as a way of rewarding them. In no time the cufflinks became very popular and it attracted the attention of other jewellery brands. Later, an exclusive fashion shop, Harvey Nichols placed an order and bought a complete collection of the cuff links. This was how the company came into existence and today it has become a true global brand and their products are available in shops Read More ...

Christian Dior has a new artistic director and the British fashion industry is agog with speculation. Raf Simons was finally appointed to the prestigious fashion house a week ago, after a period of some confusion following the departure of John Galliano, which followed the uproar caused by Galliano’s politically very incorrect comments and termination last year. Simons has earned a strong international reputation during his tenure at Jil Sander, partially owing to his ability to connect with a wide customer base. About two months ago that tenure ended with Jil taking over leadership, and everyone seems delighted with his appearance at the helm of the famously flamboyant house of Dior. The speculation now comes from the potential rivalry between at least two and probably three fashion leaders with top designers who favour the modern and minimalist trend in haute couture. If you haven’t seen Madonna’s new video “Girl Gone Wild” you better have a look pretty quick or you might miss the latest trend in men’s wear. To watch this irreverent material girl undulate and exude raw sex, you’d forget in a hot second that she’s been at it for about 30 years and that she’s now in her 50′s. Madonna has sparked yet another bizarre fashion trend and Leggs must be throwing the switch on mass production of large and medium-large pantyhose – now labeled Mantyhose, or Guylons, or Brosiery, whichever you like – but they’re for men, for sure. Her music video features a slew of buff hunks doing erotically oriented gymnastics dressed in tights (oops, Mantyhose) and stiletto heels and nothing else and look they knock-outs, all of them. Seems it has to do with the Italian Read More ...
A whole lot of folks will be sorry to hear, if they haven’t already, that Fashion Television, the iconic show launched 27 years ago and syndicated around the world, has “suspended operations”. The announcement was made last Wednesday as a tweet from the show’s host Jeanne Beker, and confirmed by CTV Bellmedia in a later press release. When it was first launched in 1985, Fashion Television was truly ahead of its time, and it has since influenced two generations of fashion-makers and consumers. Designed to be an ‘entertainment news show’ about the fashion industry, Fashion Television was hosted, anchored and sparked by Jeanne Beker, who acted as sort of a tour guide into that world for viewers. Jeanne Beker said in her memoirs that the fashion industry revolves around image, and that idea both attracts and repels her. Certainly she Read More ...

The hot season is right ahead, and it will be really burning according to the latest fashion trends. On the one hand, short and colourful dresses will be a “must have” for girls and women this year. And the best thing about all of these longer and shorter dresses is that they can be worn at every occasion. They can not only be worn in the evening or at special events, but also simply at the beach, during shopping tours or even at work. This is because designers have made the dresses more functional, and women, thanks to the feminist movement, nowadays have a different attitude and a higher status in society than in the 1950s for example. Women are more confident in wearing short dresses showing their legs or their décolleté. And as far as the colour is concerned, Read More ...
