nora 300x216 Pierre Cardin dislikes constant fashion changesPierre Cardin, the venerable and legendary French couturier, had a few comments to make on the current state of clothing design.  At a show in Tokyo this week, the 88-year old designer told interviewers at a press conference that he thinks bringing out new collections two times a year is much too fast.

Cardin feels that with the multitude of designers competing in the fashion industry, a lot of what is produced is just a fad, not really expected to last for more than a season.

When Pierre Cardin first launched his designer clothing line back in 1950, everyone told him he was attempting the impossible.  Clearly he has proved them wrong; his label is a touchstone throughout the world of high fashion, not only for clothing but also for many other elegantly designed products.

He was the first Western couturier to break into the Japanese and later the Communist China markets, and he is still going strong.  Cardin said that the reason for his success is his total commitment, his belief in himself and his “addiction” to his craft.
