This year will be the first time the British public is given the opportunity to choose the winner of the ‘F’ for Fashion to be announced at the gala awards ceremony on December 7th. The British Fashion Council sponsors the event and the award, which was introduced for the first time last year at the 25th anniversary celebration of London Fashion Week.
This year, anyone interested can go online to britishfashionawards.com/britishstyle and vote for the person they feel is the best international ambassador for London as one of the world’s leading cities in creative fashion, and voters can win tickets to the ceremony.
Last year’s winner of the ‘F’ award was Kate Moss; the contestants this year, nominated by an independent panel, include Alexa Chung, Emma Watson, Stella McCartney, Georgia May Jagger and Tilda Swinton.
The British Fashion Awards, also known as “Fashion’s Oscars” are presented in recognition of the people most influential in the world of fashion for a given year. “Oscars” this year will go to several categories, including Best Designer Brand and Best Emerging Talent. The public has until November 27th to vote, and winners will be announced on December 7th at the recently remodelled London Savoy Theatre.
