Get rid of those acne scars!

Acne is one of the curses of being young. Teens normally have oily skin which only leads to persistent acne. There are many adults though that have an acne problem too but it usually is not all that disastrous as it is for kids. As we grow older, our skin normally gets drier which automatically leads to the reduction of acne. The acne is actually not all that hard to cure. Zits come and zits go, but what about those dark and ugly scars left behind? How does on e get rid of that? It can be a major problem since even the most superficial scars take forever to fade away!

One can never predict the kind of acne he or she will get. It differs from person to person. Some people usually have the mild to moderate inflamed skin zits while others can get cystic acne. For that reason, the types of scars possible are also wide. They could be spread all over the face and extensive or else they could be deep and dark in only certain spots. No matter what the case, it is just as bad. But there is still hope. There are specific treatments that deal with the different kinds of scars on the skin.

Dermabrasion

This process is best for superficial; scars. When the acne is mild to moderate, the scars left behind are not all that hard to deal with. The skin is scrubbed with exfoliants and slight imperfections are dealt with this way.

Chemical Peeling

Acids are applied to the skin in the form of a mask which peels of the topmost layer of the skin and subsequently reveals fresh and smooth skin underneath which is clear. This is also used for only mild scars.

Laser Resurfacing

This too is for superficial scars and works like Dermabrasion in a way except for the fact that laser rays are blasted into the skin which penetrate a little further than the top layers.

Punching

Deep pits are treated with this. You can choose from the punch replacement, punch excision, and the punch elevation treatments. Pits can either be filled with skin from the ear with punch replacement, or the scar can be removed entirely and then stitched up and allowed to heal with punch excision, or even cut loose and allowed to raise itself to the top layers of the skin with punch elevation.

Subcision

This process is a bit gory since the scar is removed from deep inside the skin. A blood clot is then formed which turns into a connective tissue right beneath the scar. This causes the pit to look a bit more levelled with the surrounding skin.

Augmentation

Here, collagen is injected into the skin right beneath the scar or the pit, and that levels the pit out.

So look at the kind of scar you have and only then get the appropriate treatment since not every procedure works for every scar.
