Many short women curse their luck when it comes to their height. They feel they just don’t get noticed enough. But there are ways to elongate the body and be more noticeable. The whole idea about being short and consequently insignificant is just not true. The petite and curvaceous need to dress in a minimizing way so as to reduce the overall volume. So you are not talk, skinny, and giraffe like. That is good. You have no idea how you are blessed with your curves.

So to elongate that body, you need to stay away from large belts. Stay away from solid colours too. Don’t match your skirt or your pants with your top. Jazz it up with wild prints. If your skirt is black, wear a white or a colured top, but not a black one. Don’t wear plain dresses wither. Two piece suits are a better option for you where you can break the look up with different colours. A single colour will actually attract attention to the fact that the figure is short.

Don’t add bulk around the waist. It will only show the mid point of your body. It becomes easy to judge the actual size of the body if you make the centre point bulky. So stay away from volume here.

One of the common misconceptions among many short women is that if they wear long flowing skirts, they would actually look taller. But that is not the case. Loose, long skirts actually make legs look shorter than they actually are. Long skirts are only advantageous to short women if they are straight and maximum ankle length. Under no circumstances should they touch the floor. To really add extra inches, wear heels, and then wear pants that completely cover them. It might look silly if you can’t carry it off but it is definitely worth a try.

Mix colours by all means but remember that monochromatic shades will add length and also slim a figure. Try and stay away from heavy fabrics. This will only make you look stout and there is nothing worse than looking short AND round.

Another great elongating trick is to wear vertical lines. Stripes really add length but you have to make sure to not overdo it or else you’ll only end up looking like a zebra. How about wearing jeans with vertical lines? This definitely tricks the eye into seeing longer legs. Just a couple of lines are enough. Another thing you should try and avoid is to wear a whole lot of vertical lines and to mix clothes with lines. If the skirt or pants has vertical lines, go for a solid top.

If you are a bit overweight, remember, loose baggy clothes will not hide it. Wear a fitting shirt with a cute little waistcoat will hide just the right places and enhance the curves too. It’ll give your body just the right shape.

The final thing to remember is that short women should never live without heels. Team stilettos with slim pants and… Va Va Voom!
