skin rejuvenation Skin Rejuvenation

Today anti aging treatments are so varied that there is something for everyone… right from the humble cream to the big surgery. It is important to choose to right one at the right time. For relatively younger skins, moisturizers are good enough while mature skin could take heavy surgeries. But if you take care of your skin everyday the need for thee treatments is greatly reduced. Start with topical treatments that include creams with Retin A and AHAs. Only if the skin is not affected by this should a person go for invasive treatments. It is advisable though to first star with non invasive treatments like dermabrasion and anti aging facials before opting for injections. To correct deep wrinkles, Botox injections are pretty useful. Wherever there is a loss of fat like on pitted scars wrinkles, Botox fills it with chemicals to plump up that area. Face lifting and skin resurfacing should be used as a last resort. These do improve the skin texture a lot but tend to be on the expensive side. Not only that but they also have surgical risks as well as need a lot of time and care. It is the safest and the best to start with a procedure that is the least risky and then go up that scale as and when is needed.

Topical Treatments

There are very many skin treatments in the market. They vary from lifting gels to wrinkle creams and eye serums. They don’t always work. Only a few creams have been proven to actually make some difference on the skin. Since cosmetics are not backed by the FDA, it wholly depends on the manufacturer to give a sell a cream that has been tried and tested. The only clinically proven topical treatments are- AHAs or Alpha hydroxyl Acids, Retinoids, Vitamin C and Vitamin C derivatives, Tretinoin, i.e. Retin A and Renova, Anhydrous Vitamin C combinations and a mixture of Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Ferulic Acid.

Wrinkle Fillers

There are certain soft tissue and dermal fillers that greatly help in skin rejuvenation. These correct facial indentations like folds, lines, pitted scars, furrows, skin depressions, etc. These fillers are given with an injection but some do require an incision. It is advised by cosmetologists to firs treat moderate wrinkles with topical treatments before opting for a filler or laser treatment. For laugh lines and other motion wrinkles, Botox is the best bet. If this fails to work, even then other fillers should not be used since these will not remove the cause for these kinds of wrinkles. They will keep recurring. There are Collagen based, Hyalauronic Acid based, Hydroxylapatite based, Autologous Transplant based and Synthetic Polymer based fillers available in the market.

Noninvasive treatments

This requires only a little risk. The difference in the skin is noticeable but no a lot. This is a good option if the desired result is not got with topical treatments. This does not heal sagging skin. This includes Nonablative Lasers, Directed Energy, Chemical Peeling and Botulinum toxin (Botox) injections.

Invasive Treatments

This is to be considered for major sagging of skin and wrinkles. The only problem is that the healing time is really long and the costs for this are very high. This includes Ablative laser methods where the skin is resurfaced and other forms of proper surgery.
