Stella McCartney is in the kid’s fashion market now as she has just launched a line of children’s clothes. Some are basically shrunken replicas of pieces from her main line and others are originals for children.
She has attached a child’s name to every piece, such as the Louis, which is a knitted jumper for boys and is made of cashmere. There is also the Laura, which is a baseball shirt featuring a floral pattern for girls. Then, there’s Frida, a dress rendition of the Louis for girls.
Unisex pieces feature a unisex name like Lee, which is an embroidered military jacket with epaulettes and the Sam, a pea coat in dark blue with flap and chest pockets.
Stella is excited about doing her first children’s line and says that she wanted basic elements of a child’s needs to be handled without having to sacrifice style and fun.
There are pieces that glow with the lights out and have fox prints, which were, no doubt, part of the fun element.
She is even posting interactive activities for children and parents on her website. Kids will be able to download designs and patterns from the website as wallpaper and in Stella’s picks, she features her own favourites from the line.
The initial offering of the line will be almost exclusive to online sales and sales in most of the Stella McCartney stores worldwide.
There are plans for a spring-summer collection, which is promised to have a much broader retail distribution. Stella’s kids’ clothes can also be purchased via iPhone with an app working through iTunes.
The age range of the line is infant to 12 years old and prices run from around $20 USD for a tee and $155 USD to buy a coat.
